Where it all began
Before there was a platform, there was a Women's Reading Circle. A few women, a few honest books, and the belief that deep friendship is worth building on purpose.
Join the Mavens Collective βThis started the way most meaningful things do β quietly, in someone's living room, with a book and a few people who wanted more than small talk.
We were women who craved real conversation. Not the polished kind β the kind where you say the thing you've been turning over for weeks and someone across the room says me too like they mean it. We started reading together. We started making things together. We started showing up for each other in ways that surprised us.
"Information" derives from the Latin verb informare β meaning "to mold," or "to shape." So everything we choose to consume β books, workshops, conversations, experiences β quite literally shapes who we become.
That's what we believed then and what we still believe now. The books we read together, the art we made, the conversations that ran long β all of it was quietly shaping us. Not toward some finished version of ourselves. Toward more of who we already were.
Mavens grew out of that circle. The platform exists because we wanted more people to be able to find the kinds of teachers, guides, and makers who had changed things for us β the kind you learn about through word of mouth, through a friend of a friend, through luck. We wanted to make that luck more available.
But the circle is still the heart of it. And it's still growing.
Reading Journeys
We live in our heads. We override our bodies with logic and productivity. This season is about returning to embodied knowledge β the intelligence that lives below the neck. Our reading is matched with art-making and practices that put us back in our bodies.
What does love demand of us β not as feeling, but as practice? We sat with love as a verb: the kind that requires courage, presence, and showing up even when it's inconvenient.
